Dear Marco Island Marriott Staff,
As a Platinum Elite member, I’ve had the pleasure in staying at dozens of Marriott properties around the world. They have ranged from excellent to good properties in both service and accommodations. They have been in exotic foreign locales and as well as the provincially mundane.
When my wife and I walked to our rooms, she looked at me and said “do you feel the difference in service here?” I did notice it and was about to mention it to her when she said this. The culture of excellence started when we arrived when the bell staff (Ed and Dave) got out our 30 pieces of luggage out of three vehicles and Jason helping with our SUVs; to check in with Karin Koch who upgraded us with a pleasant smile and conversation; to Bob Pfeffer and Chris at the Rookery who arranged a conference room to meet in with my out of town partners who dropped by on 12 hours notice! (thanks Brandi and Vicki for the great service at the Rookery, even though you had side work to do - and the chef who gave us the snack to munch on); to the sincere greetings of staff as we walked down the hall; we noticed a big difference.
All Marriott properties have the Marriott culture…but your property takes it to another level. Many of you have a sense of pride in “ownership” that sets the bar high for your colleagues. What this does on the guest side of the house is a “feeling of hospitality”. This “feeling of hospitality” is lost in the millieu of hotel chains around the world. Often, at these other chains or boutique hotels, I feel like a number or customer rather than a guest. Thank you for being a place that is friendly and hospitable - making me feel like a guest here on Marco Island!
Even though we may be paying money or cashing in our hundreds of thousands of points to stay at your “house”, it is a pleasure to do so. And why not at a beautiful place like Marco Island Marriott?
As a traveler who logs over 250,000+ miles a year it is a joy to find a place that I can actually look forward to coming back to for a vacation rather than my own home.
Thank you Marriott Island Staff! And a special thank you to Rick Medwedeff, Bob Pfeffer, Karin Koch, Jason, Ed, Dave, Chris…see you all next year!
Warm regards,
Kay
