When Samantha Haring first arrived at Marriott’s Marco Island Beach Resort she was only three years old. Her parents, Gene and Lisa, were living in the Chicago suburbs and working as marketing consultants and graphic artists in the commercial coffee business.
All of the coffee clients took their vacation breaks during the holiday season and Gene and Lisa decided this too would be the best time for a family vacation. At the age of three, Samantha was now old enough to enjoy a winter break and as a result, the Harings began looking for a warm weather and tropical destination.
Florida was the natural choice, but after learning that Marco Island was home to a Marriott Beach Resort and that Marco Island was closer to Key West than Tampa. Gene and Lisa decided the Marriott at Marco might be a good warm weather choice for winter.
That was then. This is now. On December 23, 2007 Samantha arrived at Marriott’s Marco Island Beach Resort for her 16th consecutive winter break and yearly vacation. Once again she traveled with her parents.
When asked why the Harings continuously returned again and again to the resort, they unanimously answered: “It’s not just the beautiful property, the tropical weather, and the beach, but it’s the staff at the resort.
“Every time we come it’s like visiting friends and family. We just feel so welcome and at home we can’t imagine a vacation anywhere else.”

I have been looking forward to my next visit to Marco Island during spring break. I have been going for 2 years. This is the very best hotel in the world! The views are magnificent and the dining experience is exquisite. I enjoy hanging out in the game room and the staff was great! The shopping was wonderful. The many activites keep everyone busy. The rooms were neat and clean. There was many chances to have family bonding time. Everytime we go to Marco Island the wildlife is grand. We enjoyed manntee watching!!! The kids loved watching the sunset at night. The kids enjoyed paddle boating and making sandcastles. The seafood was a great oppertunity to try new food. The spa was amazing and the yoga was so relaxing. Marco Island helps us have fun and feel at ease. The band was perfect and the food was great!!! Everything was child friendly. Marco Island waseverything we could have asked for!!!
